Memorial Day 2013

Today is more than just a day off from work to bbq, today is a day to reflect and remember fallen comrades.

CPT Simon T. Cox Jr.
30, of Mesquite, TX; B Company 1st Battalion, 66th Armored Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; killed February 2 2006 when an IED was detonated under his M2A3 Bradley while patrolling route Raiders west of Taji, Iraq.



PFC Robert J. Settle
25, of Owensboro, KY; A Company 1st Battalion, 66th Armored Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; killed April 19 2006 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his M1114 during combat operations in Tarmiyah, Iraq.

27, of College Station, TX; D Company, 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; killed June 4 2006 when an improvised explosive device detonated under his M1A2 tank while patrolling route Causeway near the Khark Water Treatment plant, Taji Iraq.

20, of Staten Island, NY; B Company, 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; killed July 2 2006 when his vehicle was hit by an RPG while manning a checkpoint in Mushada, Iraq.

20, of Swampscott, MA; D Company, 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division; died September 19 2006 in Balad, Iraq, of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his M1A2 Abrams Tank during combat operations in Mushada, Iraq.

32, of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; B Company, 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division; died October 15 2006 from injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Tarmiyah, Iraq.


 SGT Richard A. Vaughn
22, of San Diego, CA; C Company, 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; died April 7 2008 in Baghdad from a gunshot wound sustained during a firefight when enemy forces attacked his patrol with rocket-propelled grenades, improvised explosive devices and small-arms fire.

30, of Hull, TX; F Company, 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; died April 9 2008 in Baghdad of wounds sustained when his vehicle was hit by an Explosively Formed Projectile. 




SSG Ronald C. Blystone
34, of Springfield, MO; A Company, 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; died April 23 2008 in Baghdad of gunshot wounds sustained during a dismounted patrol.


 PFC Corey L. Hicks
22, of Glendale, AZ; E Company, 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; died May 2 2008 in Baghdad of wounds sustained when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device.  

SPC Joshua L. Plocica
20, of Clarksville, TN; B Company, 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; died June 25 2008 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device.

MAJ Michael L. Green
36, of Guatier, MS; Headquarters, V Corps, Heidelberg, Germany; Killed January 7 2008  when his vehicle struck a makeshift bomb in Laghar Juy, Afghanistan. 


SSG Victor M. Cota
33, of Tucson AZ; Special Troops Battalion, 4th Infantry Division; Killed May 14 2008 when his vehicle encountered a makeshift bomb in Kadamiyah. 



 SSG Jesse Infante
30, of Cypress, Texas; F Company, 1st Battalion, 66th Armor, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; died Aug. 30 in the Arghandab River Valley, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.
